【Stop Umi Hara’ (Stop Ocean / Sea Harassment)
&
Stop Kenko Hara" (Stop Health Harassment)」by ESTV】
Throughout the latter half of 2026 and beyond, please stay tuned for our mission to promote the reduction of single-use plastics—which negatively impact land & marine environments, as well as human well-being — through a curated selection of documentary films, we focus on the negative effects of the marine world (Ocean, sea & waterways) and the human body. You can receive the latest updates by registering your email address below.
For those of us who love the ocean, we consider such environmental burdens to be a form of harassment against marine environments. For awareness and linguistic simplicity, we use the phrase, ‘Stop Umi Hara’ (Stop Ocean / Sea Harassment). For any negative impact on the human body, we call it, ‘Stop Kenko Hara" (Stop Health Harassment). Together, we use the phrase, ‘Stop Umi Hara & Stop Kenko Hara’. We are committed to achieving our goal of reducing "Stop Umi Hara & Stop Kenko Hara" together with our volunteers, supporters, and followers at ESTV.
[COMING SOON IN 2026]
Plastic People is a groundbreaking feature-length documentary that follows one woman’s mission to uncover the shocking impact of microplastics on human health while tracing the complex relationship between humanity and plastic.
Details:
Plastic People is part of ESTV’s lifelong education and awareness project, designed to raise consciousness regarding the negative impacts of single-use and microplastics on our oceans, land, and even within our own bodies. ESTV and its supporters refer to this long-term initiative as "StopUmiHara&KenkoHara."
While ESTV primarily focuses on the impact of single-use and microplastics on the marine environment, this film plays a vital role in lifelong education and raising awareness about how these effects extend across sea, land, and our bodies—even now, only in its second year of screening in Japan.
[Disclaimer] Produced in 2024, this film was screened for only a few small community groups at public screening events across the Kanto region in 2025. However, long-term and widespread public and private screenings in educational institutions and other venues remain necessary, as entertainment often has a short-term life, while education is a long-term journey. The film is currently unavailable for online viewing. Fpr more information in English, please see here.
